SHIFT ENGINEER: CRANE – APM Terminals, Apapa Lagos, Nigeria

This position offers an outstanding opportunity to join the global team at APM Terminals and contribute to the success of the organization. The position reports to Crane Manager.

Key Accountabilities

* Ensure that the cranes and other equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable working condition in accordance with planned preventive maintenance program and to identify and rectify repetitive problems.
* Monitor and develop Crane maintenance staff to ensure technical skills are maintained to current required standards.
* Ensure that breakdowns are repaired promptly, and that the repair work does not disrupt the Operations.
* Ensures that planning, scheduling, and unscheduled repairs are carried out efficiently and cost effectively, with quality service.
* Assists in ensuring the administrative requirements of the Crane Section, including warranty obligations, inspection records, manual updates, equipment defect reports, maintenance services, policies, procedures, and practices.
* Reviews and recommends updates to crane maintenance services policies and procedures to ensure quality, reliability, and efficiencies.
* In addition to PM program, assists in the development of asset refurbishment and asset replacement program.
* Prepare cost and performance reports in the format and at the intervals prescribed by management highlighting significant events.
* Maintains an effective safety program & that proper measures are taken to prevent accidents
* Plan and co-ordinate mechanical and electrical preventative activities for the crane section
* Liaises with the Operations Division to determine equipment needs

Your Profile

* Requires a university degree in Mechanical, Electrical engineering.
* Additional training in both electrical and mechanical fields in any heavy industries is preferred.
* Requires at least five to seven years of general supervisory experience in crane maintenance section in any ports, mines, steel and manufacturing plants.
* Must have specific knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical and related subjects.
* Must be able to interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications.
* Must be able to exercise good judgment in order to set priorities.
* Sound knowledge of relevant mechanical/pneumatic/electronic engineering systems which include hydraulic/pneumatic/electrical circuits, PLC and fault diagnostics systems;
* Capable of conducting technical training
* Must have knowledge of general supervisory principles.

GENERAL:
The Community Mobilization Associate will function as a member of a team implementing the USAID funded Targeted states High impact Program (TSHIP). The company Mobilization Associate will work under the guidance of the community Mobilization specialist in implementing TSHIP’s Social Mobilization strategy. He / She will facilitate and strengthen an ongoing range of community activities of Ward Development committees (WDC), and village Development committees (VDC) which aim at engaging households and communities in demanding for and increasing the use of high impact family planning, maternal child health, and reproductive health (TH/FP/MCH) services; and improving community engagement in Bauchi & Sokoto . He / She will be responsible for 1) building the capacity of WDC, VDC and Local Government Social Mobilization Committees (LGSMC), 2) developing community-based relationships with various stakeholders and 3) guiding periodic meeting held by the VDC, WDC and other stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work closely with LGA Development Coordinators, LGA Health Coordinators, and LGA Mobilization Committee.
• Provide leadership in the implementation of BASPHCDA (in partnership with TSHIP) social Mobilization approach in the zones, LGAs, wards, communities, households and health facilities
• Assist with capacity building, organization, revitalization and facilitation of VDCs/WDCs.
• Provide regular capacity building on community mobilization approach, using the community action cycle to VDCs/WDCs, training of community level health workers, overseeing household education and awareness activities
• Identification of CBOs, FBOs women’s groups, private and other public partnerships to enhance and support program activities
• Support LGASMC, WDCs, and VDCs to develop work plans for community mobilization and advocacy at health facilities.
• In collaboration with LGA health coordinators, support resource leveraging activities of WDCs/VDCs to address some of their health challenges in their communities.
• Hold regular meetings with VDCs, WDCs, women groups within the LGAs for experience sharing and reporting
• Develop affordable and sustainable community
• Provide supportive supervision of the VDCs and WDCs for proper community mobilization activities
• Build strong linkages with traditional leaders
• Identify potential champions and change agents within community.

1. Bachelor’s degree with three years experience in Public Health, Social Science, or related field required
